Training on Data journalism has started in Urgench
On November 6, three-day training on data journalism has started at Uzbekistan Hotel in Urgench for journalists of Khorezm region. The training is organized by the UNESCO Tashkent Office in cooperation the Modern Journalism Development Centre.The training is conducted within the framework of the project "Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest - Phase 2", financed by the Government of Great Britain. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Uzbek media to create more objective and inclusive media content, and to further strengthen the skills and competencies of Uzbekistan's journalists in data journalism. Data journalism has emerged as a new field of journalism, thanks to the vast amount of digital information and software that can be used today to transform these data into useful visualized and narrative forms. Technology and modern visualization tools help to create interactive maps, graphics, and personalized elements. The three-day training on data journalism will cover the following topics: introduction to journalism, data collection, cleansing and analysis, hypothesis building, story writing based on data, and data visualization and multimedia data-history creation. Training participants will also perform a number of practical exercises to create relevant and interesting content for publication in their own media.
